Presenter: E. R. Zagidullina1

This cross‑sectional survey screened sarcopenia in 146 rheumatology outpatients aged >65 years (mean 74 ± 5.3; 120 women, 26 men) using the SARS‑F questionnaire (0–3 points: no sarcopenia; ≥4 points: probable sarcopenia).

Patients were grouped as: Group 1 [osteoarthritis (OA)+osteoporosis (OP) without fractures, n=52], Group 2 (OA+OP with fractures, n=38), Group 3 (OA without OP, n=56). Women predominated across groups. Absence of sarcopenia was observed in Group 1: 20 (38.5%), Group 2: 8 (21%), Group 3: 36 (64.3%). Probable sarcopenia was detected in Group 1: 32 (61.5%), Group 2: 30 (79%), Group 3: 20 (35.7%). Overall, amongst OA+OP patients (n=90) sarcopenia was seen in 62 (68.9%), versus OA alone (n=56) in 20 (35.7%). Sarcopenia prevalence was lowest in men with OA without OP, and highest in women with OP+OA and fractures.
